The Career and Technical Education teachers at the Niagara and Orleans Career and Technical Education Centers depend on local industry leaders to help them design their course curriculum and provide internships for real-world experiences for students. These leaders sit on advisory committees and meet with teachers on a regular basis. Not only do they give up their free time, they often donate goods and machinery and offer valuable opportunities to the students in the Orleans/Niagara BOCES classes.

Recently HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning and cooling) teacher Nick DiFelice met with Doug Garrison of DWC Mechanical, Gary Gorenflo of Belknap Heating and Cooling, Mark LeRocque from Allied Mechanical and Kevin Passman from Tri R Mechanical at the Niagara Career and Technical Education Center.

“We had a great first meeting; the advisers were able to come in early and speak to the students, and answer any questions they had about our industry,” DiFelice said. “I appreciate all the time they spent with us and their continued support of our program and my students.”
