Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys (3-0) visit Alvin Kamara and the New Orleans Saints (2-1) in a matchup of first-place NFC teams this week on NBC’s “Sunday Night Football.” Coverage begins at 7 p.m. ET, followed by kickoff at 8:20 p.m. from the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans.
Calling Saints-Cowboys is Al Michaels (play-by-play), in his record 34th season as the voice of the NFL’s premier primetime package; 16-time Emmy Award-winner Cris Collinsworth; and three-time Emmy Award-winning sideline reporter Michele Tafoya. Three-time Super Bowl referee and “SNF” rules analyst Terry McAulay joins Michaels and Collinsworth in the booth.
The Cowboys, who defeated Miami 31-6 last week to improve to 3-0, aim to begin the season 4-0 for the first time since 2007, when they won the NFC East with a 13-3 record. Dallas’ potent offense, which averages an NFC-best 32.3 points and 481.3 yards per game, is led by Prescott, who ranks second in the NFL in passing touchdowns (nine) and passer rating (128.0) this season. Wide receiver Amari Cooper ties for the lead league with four touchdown catches, and running back Ezekiel Elliott ranks third in the NFC with 289 rushing yards.
Last weekend in their first full game without injured quarterback Drew Brees, the Saints went on the road and defeated Seattle 33-27 to move to 2-1. Running back Alvin Kamara totaled 161 scrimmage yards in Week 3 and added both a rushing and receiving touchdown in the win, while quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, making his first start of the season, passed for two touchdowns with no interceptions for a 112.7 passer rating.
The Cowboys lead the all-time series 17-12. In Week 13 last season, Dallas won, 13-10, behind Elliott’s 135 scrimmage yards and touchdown catch.
Mike Tirico will host “Football Night in America” at 7 p.m. alongside Hall of Fame coach Tony Dungy, two-time Super Bowl champion Rodney Harrison, “NFL Insider” Mike Florio and former NFL quarterback Chris Simms. Liam McHugh will co-host “FNIA” on-site from the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
