Baker Mayfield, OBJ & Browns host NFC champion Rams in Cleveland's first 'Sunday Night Football' game in 11 years

Jared Goff, Todd Gurley & Aaron Donald lead 2-0 Los Angeles Rams, who aim for 8th consecutive September victory

Baker Mayfield and the Cleveland Browns (1-1) host Jared Goff and the reigning NFC-champion Los Angeles Rams (2-0) this week on NBC’s “Sunday Night Football.” Coverage begins at 7 p.m. ET on NBC, followed by kickoff at 8:20 p.m. from FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland.

This weekend marks the first NBC “Sunday Night Football” game in Cleveland since 2008, and the Browns’ 2019 primetime debut at home.

Calling Rams-Browns is Al Michaels (play-by-play), in his record 34th season as the voice of the NFL’s premier primetime package; 16-time Emmy Award-winner Cris Collinsworth; and three-time Emmy Award-winning sideline reporter Michele Tafoya. Three-time Super Bowl referee and “SNF” rules analyst Terry McAulay joins Michaels and Collinsworth in the booth.

The Browns earned their first victory of the season in Week 2, defeating the New York Jets 23-3 on Monday night. Cleveland wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. had a team-high six receptions for 161 yards, including an 89-yard touchdown catch, and defensive end Myles Garrett led the defense with three sacks. Garrett leads the NFL with five sacks through the first two weeks of the season.

Also last weekend, in a rematch of the 2018 NFC Championship Game, the Rams beat the New Orleans Saints, 27-9, to improve to 2-0. Goff passed for 283 yards with one touchdown for a 112.6 passer rating and added a rushing touchdown, while wide receiver Cooper Kupp led the team with five receptions for 120 yards. The Rams’ defense is led by defensive tackle Aaron Donald, who has won consecutive NFL Defensive Player of the Year awards and led the league in 2018 with 20.5 sacks, a single-season franchise record.

The Rams aim for their eighth consecutive September victory, dating back to 2017. Sunday marks the Rams’ first game since 2011 in Cleveland, where the franchise was founded in 1936.

Mike Tirico will host “Football Night in America” at 7 p.m. alongside Hall of Fame coach Tony Dungy, two-time Super Bowl champion Rodney Harrison, “NFL Insider” Mike Florio and former NFL quarterback Chris Simms. Liam McHugh will co-host “FNIA” on-site from FirstEnergy Stadium.
