Obituary: Marianne S. Christensen

Marianne S. Christensen, 87, of Clymer, New York, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2018, at Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing, Greenhurst, New York.
She was born March 28, 1931, in Cleveland, Ohio, a daughter of Albert and Mary More Smolk.
Marianne was raised and educated in Findley Lake, New York, graduating from Clymer Central High School in 1949. Following her marriage, she helped with the bookkeeping for her husband's business, C. Christensen Motor Co., in Corry, Pennsylvania, however, her main priority was raising and caring for her family. Marianne moved to Grand Island in 1973, returning to Clymer in 2013.
She was a member of the Clymer United Methodist Church and the Trinity United Methodist Church on Grand Island. She was also a member of the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Clymer Volunteer Fire Department and Grand Island Fire Co. Marianne enjoyed singing, sewing, music and riding her bicycle.
In addition to her parents, Marianne was preceded in death March 10, 2013, by her husband, George A. Christensen, whom she married Nov. 8, 1952, in Clymer; and an infant son, Chris Albert Christensen.
Marianne is survived by a daughter, Julie Ganske and her husband Michael of Clymer; two sons, Kurt Christensen and his wife Diana of Lorton, Virginia, and Kris Christensen and his wife Michelle of Grand Island; a brother, Richard Smolk of Zephyrhills, Florida; and a former sister-in-law, Judith Smolk of Tampa, Florida.
She is also survived by five grandchildren: Melissa Christensen, Mary Kate Ganske, Lindsay (David) Zappala, Michael Christensen and Brooke Christensen; and three nieces, Lisa Duke, Shawn Smolk and Gina (Don) Robinson.
Family and friends are invited to call at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 201 E. South St., Corry, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, Oct. 13, from 10 a.m. until the time of the celebration of life service there at 11:30 a.m. Rev. Brian Eiss will officiate.
Burial will be in Holland Cemetery, Clymer at a later date.
