Committee started to save Bergholz bridge

Thu, Aug 8th 2019 01:00 pm

Recently, the Tribune was informed of a committee dedicated to save a local bridge in Bergholz.

In a letter and picture attached, it said the bridge is located at Hunt and Cayuga streets. The closing of the bridge, according to Jack Cindrich, member of the committee, has impeded traffic and the town should bolster the idea of getting it reopened.

The bridge was built in the 1800’s and has been closed for several years due to lack of maintenance, according to the letter, as well as lack of funding.

The closure has made two streets dead end roads.

To try and spark interest in restoring the bridge, the committee has a petition going around. Those with interest can contact Cindrich at 716-731-9384, or Ken at 716-777-0224.
