Edward Town Middle School student wins national pageant

Thu, Aug 1st 2019 07:00 am

Alyssa Strangio, 11, is a sixth-grader at Edward Town Middle School and a Wheatfield resident. Alyssa’s first pageant was when she was 5 years old, where she won the Peach Blossom in 2014 at the Lewiston Kiwanis Peach Festival.

She continued with pageants and entered the local Sunburst Pageant. She won the highest title of Ultimate Grand Supreme and moved onto the state pageant. Alyssa went to Rochester for states in May 2018, and won Little Miss Supreme Queen for New York state.

This past February, she traveled to White Plains, and won Miss New York Pre-Teen Miss for the East Coast USA Pageants. This title clinched her ticket to move onto Nationals, where girls from seven states would compete for a national title.

This past weekend, she took her Miss New York title to Parsippany, New Jersey, and won. After competing in several rounds – interview, runway, fitness, patriotic wear and talent – she became a National Queen for the East Coast USA Pageant. She also won the interview round for her age group.

Alyssa is now the 2019-20 National Pre-Teen Miss Queen. She will represent East Coast USA Pageant with both titles as Miss New York and National Pre-Teen Miss Queen.

Alyssa has collected food for a local food pantry and her and her brother, Anthony, used all their tickets (over 10,000) at an arcade to get toys for kids at the Oishei Childrens’ Hospital.

Alyssa said, she would accept any donations of new toys for those who’d be interested in contributing. Those interested can email [email protected] to make accommodations.
