The Niagara Falls Community Development Department is launching the second round of the small business support fund (SBSF) to help local entrepreneurs improve their businesses.

“We were encouraged by the response and effectiveness of the first round of small business grants, and look forward to working with more business owners to add value to their properties,” said Seth Piccirillo, NFCD director.

The SBSF is funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, replacing NFCD’s commercial façade renovation program. The new grant program offers a wider range of applicable renovations.

SBSF round one was launched in February and funded renovation projects on Pine Avenue, Niagara Street and Linwood Avenue.

Grants will be made available to businesses in the NFCD target area, consisting of the Pine Avenue Business District, Niagara Street Business District, the north end, center city neighborhoods and the Buffalo Avenue Business District in LaSalle.

Interested business owners can visit https://nf-cd.org/smallbusiness to learn more and to complete the initial letter of intent. The application period will be open from Tuesday, Aug. 20, to Tuesday, Sept. 17.
