Day 2 of 180th Erie County Fair

Here is what you need to know for today at the Erie County Fair:

Deals and Discounts

•Student Special: Students ages 13-22 receive $7 admission, after 5 p.m., with proper ID.

•Early Morning Discount: $7 admission for guests arriving before 11 a.m. on any weekday. Tickets purchased before 11 a.m. must be redeemed before 11 a.m.

•One-Price Ride Day: Unlimited ride wristbands are available for $30 on the Strates midway. Guests who pre-purchased their ride vouchers at Tops may redeem them at the Strates ticket booth at the top of the Avenue of Flags.

Live in the GUSTO Grandstand

•Foghat: Rock and blues icons Foghat take a "Slow Ride" to the Erie County Fair with a performance at 8 p.m.

Owners of eight Gold records, plus one Platinum and one double-Platinum album, Foghat continues to tour the world, satisfying longtime followers and making new fans along the way. "Slow Ride" and ''Fool For the City" are among Foghat's hits.

The show is part of the GUSTO Grandstand Concert Series and will begin at 8 p.m. This is a free show, included with gate admission. A grandstand ticket is not needed for admission to this concert.

Extras

•New Foods Showdown: Vendors were challenged to create the best new food of the fair. Of all the submissions, the field was narrowed down to the top 20 challengers. These foods can be found on the fairgrounds app (in the food section). Fairgoers are encouraged to try the new foods and vote for their favorite through Aug. 14.

•New Food Showdown Celebrity Judging: At 11 a.m., a panel of approximately 10 invited guests will judge the 2019 New Foods Showdown. The judging panel will be comprised of well-known members of the media as well as professional chefs and culinary educators.

Now in its fifth year, the “New Food Showdown” showcases fair food concessionaire’s culinary delights. Judging will take place inside the Erie County Fair Cooks! Kitchen and Shoppe.

•Skylighters Fireworks presented by Channel 2: Today will end with an actual bang when Skylighters Fireworks light the night sky. The show is scheduled to begin at 9:30 p.m. Best viewing will be in the grandstand, or trackside.

•Daily Flag Retreat Ceremony: During the ceremony, the American flag that was flown during that day will be lowered and presented to a veteran and/or active military member of the military. That person will be the “Flag Retreat Honoree of the Day.”

This ceremony begins at 6:30 p.m. in Slade Park.

•4-H and FFA: Several 4-H/FFA shows are happening today.
