Obituary: Richard C. 'Bud' Whiting

Richard C. “Bud” Whiting, formerly of Grand Island, passed away June 13, 2019.

Bud Whiting was born April 23, 1920, in Rochester and lived for 99 wonderful years. He resided in Buffalo, Kenmore, Grand Island and, most recently, Williamsville.

He was the cherished husband for 75 years of Rosemary (née Woodworth) Whiting; proud and loving father of Scott W. Whiting (Carol), Richard C. Whiting Jr., Rosemary W. Culbert (Don), Winanne W. Conway, Connie M. Fitzpatrick (Rob), Jim Whiting (Barb) and Diane W. Lowe (John); lovingly involved grandfather of Scottie, Jay and the late Jonathan Whiting, Natalee and Julia Culbert, Sean and Casey Fitzpatrick, Zachary Whiting, Jessie and Matt Lowe; great-grandfather of Austin and Michael.

He was the son of the late Edward M. and Winifred C. Whiting. He was predeceased by brothers Edward M. Whiting Jr. and John C. Whiting and a sister, Jean McBride. He is survived by many close nieces and nephews.

He was loyal and devoted to all his family and many dear friends throughout his lifetime; and he was loved by all who knew him.

A memorial service was held Tuesday, June 18, at Lafayette Avenue Presbyterian Church, Buffalo. Memorial donations may be made to Lafayette Avenue Presbyterian Church or the American Heart Association Hoops for Heart.
