Project Connect Niagara, an event designed to connect those in need with critical services in a “one-stop” venue, will take place from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, at Heart, Love & Soul Food Pantry and Dining Room in Niagara Falls.

Project Connect Niagara aims to bridge the knowledge gap that often exists between the community resources provided by many organizations, and local residents who can benefit from these programs and services. The event is designed for attendees to engage with many of the 50-plus resources on-site, which include financial services, veterans’ benefits, and medical services. A new addition this year will be a job fair with more than a dozen local employers and workforce development initiatives to be held at the Niagara Falls Train Station simultaneously, with transportation provided between the two venues.

Last year, approximately 250 attendees accessed these free services and information, while 125 individuals benefited from on-site health services, referrals and resources provided by Mount St. Mary’s Hospital. Transportation was provided from local communities to the event.

“Now in its fourth year, Project Connect Niagara has become an important annual event for both providers and the community,” said Robyn L. Krueger, chairwoman of the Niagara County Coalition for Services to the Homeless. “Over its previous three years, more than 800 people have gained access to community resources. We are excited to offer this opportunity once again, and look forward to seeing what this year holds!”

The event is presented by the Niagara County Coalition for Services to the Homeless, in conjunction with the Annual Compassionate Niagara Conference. With a goal of making a positive impact on the community, the project aims to form a partnership between community volunteers, city government, nonprofits, and the private sector to provide this "one-stop shop" of health and human services for those in need throughout Niagara County.

Sponsors for the event include Calspan, Grigg Lewis Foundation, Confer Plastics, Covanta, Fidelis Care, Niagara Falls City School District, Kane Construction, East Hill Foundation, United Healthcare, Community Missions, Phi Delta Kappa Chapter #0047, Catholic Health – Mount St. Mary’s, the Homeless Alliance of WNY, Kalos Health, Niagara Falls Empire State Poverty Reduction Initiative, Hohl Industrial, and Walck Construction.
