J. Fitzgerald Group’s 24-hour creative marketing blitz starts at 8 a.m. July 18

In just a few days, a team of volunteers at J. Fitzgerald Group in Lockport will get to work for 24 hours straight during Western New York’s 12th annual CreateAthon, kicking off at 8 a.m. Thursday.

During CreateAthon, volunteers work to create free marketing materials to benefit selected nonprofit organizations, this year focusing on groups that support underserved and underprivileged children. The event starts with a brief kickoff meeting with JFG team members, local vendors and representatives from each of the organizations. The team then gets to work, brainstorming ideas, designing and producing new marketing materials.

At the end of the round-the-clock creative marathon, JFG will present the completed materials to each of the organizations at 8 a.m. Friday.

This year, five organizations – The Teacher’s Desk Lockport CARES Families of FANA of WNY the Lockport Ice Arena & Sports Center and the Oglala Lakota Children’s Justice Center – will benefit from the work of the volunteer graphic designers, social media experts, copywriters, strategic facilitators and others.

Now in its 12th year, JFG’s participation in CreateAthon is part of a national effort to give back to local communities. This is the only event of its kind in Western New York.

Organizations applied for inclusion through an application and review process, with all submissions evaluated for the group’s audience reach, the ability of services to make an impact on the nonprofit organization and the communities they serve, and the scope of each group’s financial need.

During the past 11 years, it is estimated the work of volunteers combined with the value of donated printing, media placement and other services provided by vendor partners delivered more than $3.5 million in support to benefiting nonprofit organizations.
