Fourth annual event to support NFMMC’s cardiac and stroke care center

A local family that vowed to support better heart and stroke care in Niagara will hold the fourth annual Robert Steinjan Sr. Memorial Car Show Saturday, July 13, in Sanborn.

Robert O. Steinjan Sr., who died in 2015 at the age of 76, had chronic heart disease and was treated at Memorial after suffering both a stroke and a heart attack. His family was so favorably impressed by the care he received that members set a fundraising goal of $25,000 for Memorial’s new cardiac and stroke unit, and to hold the car show annually until their goal was attained. Last year’s event raised $9,850, exceeding the goal and bringing the family’s gift total to $25,250.

To show its appreciation, Memorial has dedicated the Cardiac & Stroke Care unit’s family education room in Steinjan’s memory. This year’s car show celebrates what would have been Mr. Steinjan’s 80th birthday.

“The staff at Memorial took great care of our father,” said Steinjan’s son, William. “We are honored to help.”

The Robert O. Steinjan Sr. Memorial Car Show will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the grounds of Hoover’s Dairy, 6045 Ward Road, and will feature raffles, music and food.

Admission is free; car registration is $10. For information, call 716-713-7025.
