Primary election June 25

For the first time, New York state has moved up its primary election day three months, from September to June.

The main races on primary day on Grand Island will include town justice candidates Robert F. Mesmer and Mark S. Nemeth running against each other for six party lines.

Nemeth and Mesmer will face off for town justice on the Republican, Democratic, Conservative, Working Families, Green, and Independence lines.

Town clerk candidate George M. Hauss appears on the Working Families ballot, while his opponent Pattie Frentzel appears on the ballot on the Independence line. John C. Whitney appears on the Independence Party ballot for town supervisor.

Another key race is for the Independence Party line for Grand Island Town Council, where party voters can vote for any two from among Beverly Kinney, Tom Digati and Mike Madigan.
