The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation is hiring more than 1,000 new and returning lifeguards for the summer season at its swimming beaches and pools.

"New York State Park lifeguards are crucial to the success in protecting the millions of swimmers at State Park beaches and pools each year," said Acting State Parks Commissioner Erik Kulleseid. "We are seeking dedicated individuals to be a part of this valuable team. Lifeguarding is a rewarding way to earn money, gain valuable job experience, and serve the public in a friendly, active and fun environment."

State Park lifeguards must meet certain eligibility criteria, including successfully completing the qualifying procedure, before being hired.
