KeyBank employees team up for 29th annual Neighbors Make the Difference Day

Volunteer efforts took place across Western New York & all communities KeyBank serves across US

On Wednesday, KeyBank, a Fortune 500 company with regional headquarters in Buffalo, held its 29th annual “Neighbors Make the Difference Day.” Thousands of employees across KeyBank’s 15 state footprint received paid time off to spend the day on the ground in their local communities, participating in hundreds of projects, committing thousands of hours to community organizations and neighborhoods.

More than 6,000 employees in 15 states volunteered at more than 800 projects this year and completed a total of approximately 25,000 volunteer hours. In Western New York, approximately 570 employees volunteered at more than 70 projects.

“Neighbors Make the Difference Day” launched in 1991, with a group of KeyBank employees in Alaska who volunteered for service projects. By 1993, KeyBank extended the concept to many of the communities it served, making it an official day of employee volunteerism. Today, “Neighbors Make the Difference Day” is a hallmark program and leading corporate volunteerism effort in America, showcasing KeyBank’s commitment to communities.

“Communities thrive when volunteers unite,” said Gary Quenneville, KeyBank regional executive and Buffalo market president. “It’s why hundreds of KeyBank employees came together on ‘Neighbors Make the Difference Day’ to take responsibility for the well-being of our community.”

“Neighbors Make the Difference Day” events that took place across Western New York included clean up and engagement activities at the following locations:

  • St. Luke’s Mission of Mercy, Buffalo
  • Compass House, Buffalo
  • Delavan Grider Community Center, Buffalo
  • William-Emslie YMCA, Buffalo
  • Food Bank of WNY, Buffalo
  • Baker Victory Services, Lackawanna
  • SPCA of Erie County, Buffalo
  • West Seneca Community Missions, West Seneca
  • Niagara Falls YWCA Carolyn’s House, Niagara Falls
  • Community Missions, Niagara Falls
  • Brothers of Mercy, Clarence
  • Niagara Hospice, Lockport
  • Village of Hamburg Parks & Recreation Department, Hamburg
  • First Presbyterian Church, Jamestown
