Event designed to help seniors, caregivers learn about scams, online safety, technology to protect them

Seniors are often the targets of scammers, online and in the real world. As scammers and technology get more sophisticated, it’s important to learn how to protect oneself and loved ones from falling victim.

Join Better Business Bureau of Upstate New York and AT&T, in partnership with New York State Sen. Rob Ortt, the Niagara USA Chamber of Commerce and the Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce for a panel discussion for senior citizens and their caregivers.

The free event will take place at 10:30 a.m. and noon on Thursday, May 2, at Niagara County Community College’s Arts and Media Theatre. To register or for more information, contact Lauren at 716-276-3707.

Speakers include experts from BBB, AT&T, the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office, and the Center for Elder Law and Justice. Topics include: Protecting the elderly, handling robocalls, online safety, end-of-life planning, common elder crimes, scams targeting seniors online and in the real world, and how to recognize suspicious activity.
