Niagara Falls Community Development releases revised draft 2019 action plan

Department seeks public comments before council approval

The City of Niagara Falls Community Development Department (NFCD) has released its revised draft 2019 action plan per the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development 2019 allocations for the City of Niagara Falls Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME), and Emergency Solutions Grants (ESG) programs. The revised draft 2019 action plan adjusts the funding levels from the draft 2019 action plan unanimously approved by Niagara Falls City Council on March 6.

“We are happy to receive our 2019 allocations much earlier than expected,” said Seth Piccirillo, director of Community Development. “It will allow us to bring these federal dollars to our community projects much quicker than usual.”

Residents are encouraged to weigh in on the revised draft 2019 action plan. A 30-day public comment period will open on Monday, April 22. A public hearing will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, at the Carnegie Building, 1022 Main St., Niagara Falls.

Public comments must be received by the NFCD on or before noon Wednesday, May 22. Residents can comment on the revised draft 2019 action plan online at nf-cd.org/participate, in-person at the public hearing, in-person at the Carnegie Building during regular office hours (8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday), or by mail to Niagara Falls Community Development, Attn: 2019 Action Plan, PO Box 69, Niagara Falls, NY 14302.

2019 HUD Allocations (all federal funds):

  • CDBG – $2,309,381
  • HOME – $427,400
  • ESG – $199,282

Total: $2,936,063
