Old Fort Niagara slates Native American symposium

Old Fort Niagara announces it will hold a Native American history symposium from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 30, at the Tuscarora Nation House, 5226 Walmore Road, Lewiston.

Titled “Fort Niagara through Native Eyes,” the program will include well-known Native historians Michael Galban, Jamie Jacobs and Rick Hill, who will explore the Native American perspective on the fort during the French period, the American Revolution and the War of 1812.

Shown is the Treaty of Niagara wampum belt, an artifact specific to the history of OFN that will be discussed during the symposium.

Tickets are priced at $25 for the program; lunch can be added for an additional $12. Tickets are only available by advance purchase through Wednesday, March 27, by calling Old Fort Niagara at 716-745-7611.
