SUNY's 'Got Your Back' with NCCC

Thu, Mar 21st 2019 01:40 pm

The Niagara County Community College Alumni Association, the NCCC Wellness Center, Student Life, and Student Housing are partnering with SUNY’s Got Your Back to help stuff comfort bags for victims and survivors of violence.

Every day in New York, adults and children seek assistance from hospitals, rape crisis, and domestic violence shelters. Often they come in with little more than the clothes they are wearing. Money that shelters and other response organizations spend on personal care items is money that they are not spending on other crucial costs. Instead, SUNY’s Got Your Back and NCCC will fill these comfort bags with items such as toothpaste, a toothbrush, shampoo, body wash, and other needs.

The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, inside the second floor cafeteria of the student center at NCCC’s Sanborn campus. NCCC is inviting all alumni, students, employees, and friends of the college along with their guests to volunteer their time to help stuff these comfort bags. NCCC has pledged to stuff 4,000 bags so the college  said it needs your help. The event asks volunteers to let the college know ahead of time if you are coming.
