The Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce on Friday held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Samana Salt Spa. Owners Cheryl Krouse and Jim Fittante, and their children (shown center), welcomed elected leaders, fellow retailers and friends to their establishment, located at 700 Center St., Lewiston.

Inside the three-room street-level building, customers can take advantage of a number of wellness products and services, including health coaching, yoga, massage therapy and reiki.

Of course, the highlight is the middle room’s halo generator, which, Krouse recently told NFP, “crushes salt down into little, teeny, tiny molecules – molecules that you can inhale – and it’s really good for your respiratory system. It’s really good for your skin. And it just overall can help with a lot of different things.”

Samana’s brochure states salt therapy can benefit individuals with allergies/hay fever; asthma; chronic bronchitis; COPD; cough, cold and flu; cystic fibrosis; ear infections; emphysema; psoriasis, eczema and acne; sinus infection/sinusitis; snoring and sleeping problems; and stress, anxiety and fatigue.
