Niagara University student Sarah Andres wants to pursue a career in health care and give back to her community. This Lewiston native has learned many lessons since becoming a volunteer in the emergency department of Mount St. Mary’s Hospital.

“Volunteering in a hospital is a great opportunity to interact with patients and staff in a way that feels beneficial to both,” she said. “Whether you are filing paperwork or talking with a family member while they are waiting for information on their loved one, this is a rewarding service.”

Andres has gained real-life experience to help her decide where her career may take her while learning a valuable lesson. In her own words, “No matter the circumstance, servicing patients in need of care is the top priority.”

Sarah is the daughter of local physician Dr. Jerome Andres of Niagara Family Medicine.
