The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 3-1 is offering an ‘About Boating Safely” one-day class taught by Coast Guard-certified instructors. The course runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays, March 23, April 27, May 18 and July 13, at the Officers Club of Fort Niagara in Youngstown, plus June 22 at Lewiston No. 2 Fire Co.

Newly adopted New York state law says all jet-ski operators and individuals born after 1996 must successfully complete this course to operate a boat in New York waters. One may be entitled to a 10 percent discount on boat insurance following successful completion of this class.

There is limited class space available. Contact Marty Laufer at 716-390-7727 or [email protected] for more information or to reserve a spot.

For more than 60 years, tens of thousands of men and women of the Coast Guard Auxiliary have spent millions of volunteer hours helping the Coast Guard carry out its missions. For more information on “America’s Volunteer Lifesavers,” visit http://www.cgaux.org/.
