Niagara County: Agribusiness outreach forum to be held in Lockport

An agribusiness outreach forum will be held at Cornell Cooperative Extension of Niagara County, 4487 Lake Ave., Lockport, on Friday, April 5. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with representatives and hear about key resources from local, state and federal economic development and agricultural agencies. The event is free to attend, but preregistration is required due to limited space.

The event is a an opportunity to learn more about tax incentives, energy-efficiency programs and grant/loan programs that are available to assist new and existing small- and medium-sized farms and agricultural-based businesses looking to start up or expand.

Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m., and light refreshments will be available at that time. The program will run from 9-11 a.m. and will include two separate panels of speakers with a short break and refreshments offered in between sessions.

Panelists include individuals from the Niagara County Department of Economic Development, Niagara County Community College’s Small Business Development Center, Empire State Development, Farm Credit East, New York State Agriculture and Markets, New York FarmNet, U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency and National Grid.

Additional agencies represented will include the Niagara County Industrial Development Agency, Niagara USA Chamber and the U.S. Small Business Administration.

At 11 a.m., guests will have the opportunity to speak to representatives from the attending agencies and/or tour the WNY Food Incubator, CCE-Niagara’s shared-use commercial kitchen.
