Western New York’s premier equine exposition and equestrian gathering returns to the Erie County Fairgrounds in Hamburg this weekend. WNY EquiFest opens its two-day run this Saturday (9 a.m. to 5 pm.) and continues on Sunday (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.). The expo will welcome horse enthusiasts, owners, trainers, clinicians, riders and vendors who will gather to celebrate the horse industry in the state. More than 6,000 people are expected to attend this free, family-friendly event.

WNY EquiFest 2019 will feature vendors with products and services focusing on the horse industry. Clinics, seminars and demos will be presented by trainers, coaches and industry professionals. Breed Avenue and Breed Parade will feature gypsy vanners, Frisians and standardbreds. Each breed will be showcased during the breed parade each day at noon. Fun, educational activities will be available for children of all ages in the family corral.

Highlighting WNY Equifest 2019 will be an appearance by national, award-winning barrel racer Amberley Snyder. Paralyzed from the waist down since 2010 from an automobile accident, the 25-year-old Snyder uses her struggle as a unique opportunity to inspire others. Snyder will conduct a motivational talk at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, and a barrel racing clinic on Sunday.

Seating and spaces are limited for these ticketed events. Tickets can be purchased at: http://bit.ly/AmberleySnyderClinic.

Other scheduled events include a horse archery demonstration presented by Horse Archery USA and simple jumping exercises presented by the Houghton College Equestrian Program. The session will show how to build confidence in both the horse and rider while performing exercises in small spaces. Jack and Emma Minteer of Rose Hill Ranch will demonstrate their kind and gentle colt starting methods that have propelled Emma to two consecutive Extreme Mustang Makeover Championships. A Frisian driving demonstration by Lorick Stables Friesians will feature a Bennington Carriage imported from England. Noelle White, the reigning Miss Rodeo New York, will appear at EquiFest as she prepares to compete for the title of Miss Rodeo America 2020 in Las Vegas later this year.
