Patricia E. Berggren was inducted into the New York State 2019 Notable Women in Human Services Hall of Fame at an event inside the legislative office building near the state capitol in Albany. She joined more than 60 women who were recognized for their unwavering work in the human services sector.

The event was organized by the Human Services Council of New York.

Berggren was nominated for the honor by Assemblyman Angelo J. Morinello.

The award honors her role as president of the board of directors for HART (Home Assistance Referral Team), and work with several human service organizations she has served over many years. HART is a referral service that provides care to seniors and those needing assistance, allowing them to remain independent in their own homes.

Retiring in 2010 from Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, Berggren was the hospital’s vice president for the foundation and community relations.

She has served on the boards of the Niagara County SPCA, Main Street Business and Professional Association, Planned Parenthood of Niagara County and the Niagara Club. She also co-chaired the United Way of Niagara’s communications task force for several fundraising campaigns. She also is an elder at the First Presbyterian Church of Lewiston.

Berggren was a recipient of the 2006 Niagara Award for Health and Human Services from the YWCA of Niagara.
