Hundreds of teens from across New York, Pennsylvania and Southern Ontario gathered this past weekend in downtown Buffalo at the Buffalo Grand Hotel for the inaugural Awaken Youth Conference.
Produced by Western New York’s Kingdom Bound Ministries, the conference featured national youth communicators Reggie Dabbs and Eric Samuel Timm, as well as respected regional speakers from the U.S. and Canada, including Wes Aarum, Brett Ullman, Keri Cardinale, Mike Gordon and Jennifer Hopper. Presenters spoke on a wide variety of topics relevant to teens, such as social media, mental health, self-harm, and relationships.
“Student and leader conference ‘Awaken 2019.’ What an honor to be there,” Timm said. “Amazing students and leaders.”
As a part of the conference, the students in attendance raised funds to support the work of PATH of WNY (People Against Trafficking Humans). Staff from PATH also taught seminars to bring awareness to issues surrounding human trafficking in Western New York.
The conference is slated to return to Buffalo for its second year in the spring of 2020. More information can be found at www.AwakenCon.com.
