The Carnegie Art Center in North Tonawanda will host the 2019 “North Tonawanda School District Student Spotlight Exhibition” from Feb. 23 through March 22, with an opening reception at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28. The venue will also host a family night beginning at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 19. That night, art teachers from the North Tonawanda public schools will show attendees how to create art.

The exhibition and the family night are both open to the public and free to attend.

“We are pleased to have the NT School District art students and teachers return to the Carnegie Art Center,” said Interim Program Coordinator Natalie Brown. “As an alumnus of the NT High School, I took full advantage of the arts education the school provided, and I hope the students feel a similar appreciation at the Carnegie Art Center and return throughout the year to see future exhibitions.”

The Carnegie Art Center is now open four days a week: 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, as well as noon to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Located at 240 Goundry St., the Carnegie exists in a structure built in 1904 as the City of North Tonawanda’s public library. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Since 1975, the CAC has been operating as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation offering the community art exhibitions, art and dance classes, as well as support to artists and art organizations.
