Pinnacle Community Services to hold gala; announces 2019 award recipients

Celebrating 124 years of continuous service to the Niagara community, Pinnacle Community Services (formerly Family & Children’s Service of Niagara) will present several awards at its second annual “Side by Side, Step by Step: An Awards Gala to Celebrate Our Journey” event on Friday, March 1, at the DoubleTree by Hilton, 401 Buffalo Ave., Niagara Falls. The program will take place from 6-10 p.m.

In addition to showcasing the work of the agency over the past year, awards will be presented to the following individuals and organizations in recognition of their contributions:

•Bernadette Franjoine will receive the Peggy Addoms Volunteer Service Award, given to a volunteer who demonstrates dedication to the agency, going above and beyond, and supporting the mission of the agency. Franjoine is a dedicated board member, and the vice president of mission integration with Catholic Health at Mount St. Mary’s Hospital.

•Eileen Wrobel will receive the Staff Leadership Award, given to a staff member who goes above and beyond, contributes to a positive work environment, and gives back to the agency and the community. Wrobel is the engagement coordinator in the development and communications department, and has held positions in both the domestic violence and youth services programs.

•Savannah Davis will receive the Journey Award, which is presented to a current or past client who has faced challenges, overcome obstacles, and is a positive role model for others facing similar challenges. Davis was a client in the youth services program.

•Patricia Cudney will receive the Gerald J. Kozak Community Partnership Award. Cudney is a senior case manager for the Niagara County Department of Social Services. She is being recognized for her collaborative efforts in addressing community needs and exemplifying the values of compassion, helping others and empowerment in their activities and services.

•Maid of the Mist and Project Linus will both receive the Legacy Builder Award in recognition of their demonstrated commitment to children, adults and families in need through their generosity to the agency. Both award recipients have been instrumental in their charitable contributions, financially, and through time and talents.

The gala will celebrate the impact the agency has in the community while honoring the people and partners who help Pinnacle Community Services in its mission: "Side by Side, Step by Step … we strengthen our community by supporting and empowering individuals and families on their journey.”

Since 1895, Pinnacle Community Services has been providing essential services to the community, both through prevention and intervention programming in the areas of mental health, domestic violence, teen pregnancy, runaway and homeless youth, and child abuse and neglect.
