Casino money for North Tonawanda History Museum

Thu, Jan 10th 2019 12:30 pm

County legislators Rich Andres and Randy Bradt initiated a resolution for the North Tonawanda History Museum to receive $4,000.

This money will assist in the installation of four wheelchair ramps at their new location to make the building and exhibits handicap accessible and meet all the ADA standards. Bradt said, “Making this museum handicap accessible is a noble cause and I am glad to be able make this project a reality.”
The museum has been in existence for 13 years and has been granted its Absolute Chapter by the New York State Department of Education.

Andres said, “I’m so happy to be able to assist the tremendous team of volunteers in their efforts to keep our city’s history alive.”
The museum has completed its move to their new location and is now working on exhibits and bringing the building up to code.

“As a new legislator, I’m happy to be a partner to community organizations that add so much to our community” said Legislator Jesse Gooch.
Howard Roeske, director of the North Tonawanda History Museum said, “Moving a museum containing hundreds of years of history has been a daunting and rewarding experience. Without the help of our county legislators to secure this funding to make the museum handicap accessible, we would be set back significantly.”

He further added, “Our desire is to get this museum open to the public in the next couple of weeks.”
