Niagara University’s food and consumer-packaged goods marketing program received accreditation from the Category Management Association, which will enable students to sit for the national certified professional category analyst exam starting in the spring semester.

The Category Management Association certification designations are the recognized industrywide standard that qualifies the skill level of individual category management professionals. CMA certification is an independent assessment based on standards that were created for the industry by the industry.

“Niagara University continues to strengthen the academic excellence and rigor of our food and CPG marketing program in an effort to provide students an exceptional educational experience that will lead to a rewarding career in the industry,” said Alan Stock, director of Niagara University’s Food Marketing Center of Excellence. “Our students now have the ability to sit for a national certification in category management, which will help differentiate them from other university candidates as they begin to find successful outcomes within the industry itself upon graduation. Fewer than 200 students annually graduate with this certification, and our students will now be able to bring a significant level of expertise in their analytical abilities to potential employers and make a positive impact at their new jobs on day one of employment.”

Niagara University’s food and CPG marketing program prepares students for the wide spectrum of careers that are offered in the industry. Foundational knowledge is complemented by opportunities to participate in industry case competitions, attend trade shows, obtain industry accreditations, and network at Food Marketing Center of Excellence events.
