Nate McMurray released the following statement Wednesday, as he continues to monitor the vote totals for NY-27 (edited for style):
"As unofficial absentee counts begin to be reported, Nate McMurray is performing significantly higher than he did on Election night in the four counties who have reported so far: Monroe, Wyoming, half of Genesee and about a quarter of Ontario.
"As it currently stands, McMurray's vote percentage relative to his Election night numbers are 9 percent higher in Ontario, 13 percent higher in Wyoming, 14 percent higher in Monroe, and 15 percent higher in Genesee. All attention is on vote-rich Erie and Niagara counties, and if McMurray's trend continues, he will erase Collins' lead and bring the race to a dead heat.
" 'We said from the beginning that every voice must be heard, and we remain committed to ensuring that our service members, retirees, college students and others who voted absentee are allowed their right to choose their representative in Congress," McMurray said. "Unlike my opponent who hid from voters and hoped to end the race before all the votes were counted, I will see this race through to the last vote. This is democracy at work, and we will continue to fight so that every vote is counted.' "
