Porter GOP donates to Halloween celebrations in Ransomville

Sat, Oct 27th 2018 07:00 am
Wednesday evening at its annual recognition event in Ransomville, the Town of Porter Republican Committee presented Courtney Zimmerman of the Ransomville Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary with a $200 check. The funding will go toward this year's Halloween celebrations, set for Wednesday evening, Oct. 31.
Town of Porter Supervisor John "Duffy" Johnston said the money will pay for costume and candy giveaways the Ransomville Fire Co. contributes each year.
Zimmerman is coordinating this year's Halloween celebration. She said the event will feature a 5:30 p.m. parade of costumed little ones and their parents following the fire company ambulance and fire trucks down Youngstown-Lockport Road from the O. Leo Curtiss American Legion Post 930 to the Ransomville firehall for a party.
"At the firehall, there will be cider, doughnuts and a Halloween candy giveaway," Zimmerman said.
Area children are invited to attend.
