Sunshine 2.0, a professional traveling theater troupe based at Rochester Institute of Technology's National Technical Institute for the Deaf in Rochester, will perform at Niagara University on Friday, Oct. 26.
The free, public event will take place from 10-11 a.m. in the Russell J. Salvatore Dining Commons. A Q&A session will follow.
Using unique approaches to theater and dance, Sunshine 2.0 develops programs, workshops and performances that highlight the growing fields of science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEM) education and other general educational topics through arts. The performances are presented by both hearing and deaf actors in voice and in American Sign Language, are accessible to all audience members, and cover subjects for people of all ages.
The event is sponsored by Niagara University's American Sign Language and deaf studies program. Students who minor in ASL and deaf studies earn a "degree with a difference," and develop a unique knowledge base and skill set applicable to any career.
