Donations of winter coats, hats & gloves can be made at any Erie County auto bureau
Erie County Clerk Michael Kearns announced his office and all auto bureau locations will again have collection barrels on hand to accept donations for Colvin Cleaner's 23rd annual "Coats 4 Kids" campaign.
Kearns and Colvin Cleaners President Paul Billoni are asking the community to look in their closets for winter items such as coats, hats, gloves or scarves to donate. The coats and other winter wear will be distributed to children and families in need across Erie County starting in November.
Kearns said, "It's no secret that Buffalo is the City of Good Neighbors. Our monetary and material generosity is seen most by the warmth and compassion when winter rolls in off Lake Erie. Coats, hats and gloves given to keep those families who need them warm are the acts that make us all proud to be Buffalonians."
Colvin Cleaners collects suitable, warm winter wear for toddlers to young adults, and hats, scarves and gloves for families. Billoni and his family have collected, cleaned, sorted and distributed, for free, more than 80,000 coats to children and families in need over the past 22 years.
Donations of gently used coats and winter items can be made through December at any of the auto bureau office throughout Erie County or the county clerk's office located in Old County Hall. For a complete listing and addresses of all drop-off locations, visit www.coats4kid.com.
