Step right up! On Saturday, Oct. 13, the second annual "Art of Fashion" design competition and runway show returns to the Niagara Arts and Cultural Center with high fashion creations by 30 local designers. This circus-inspired fundraiser, hosted by local fashion icons Lori Caso and Brook D'Angelo, will have guests on the edge of their seats.
This design competition and runway show challenged designers to create "Cirque De La Mode"-inspired designs, which will be judged by Wendy Guild Swearingen of Buffalo Spree Magazine, celebrity diva Scarlet Feva and international Curve model Carmina Suzanne.
Designs featured in the show will come from Carly Glenn Collier, Michael Beam, Charla Jordan, Jason Buckley, Mary Grace Ohrum, Caedyn Metz, Faith Mann, Therese Camarra, D'Angelo, April Miller, Brandon Mawk, Holly Rankie, Rose Hill, Danielle Grace DePalma, Cece Carson, Rosemary Conte, JoAnna Carrozzino, Lillie Pearl, Gus Posey, Robyn Redhawk, Janice Spagnola, Betsy Aguilar, Novi Paluch, Jessica Normile, Veronica Kruger and students from Buffalo Public Schools.
The doors to the art center will open at 5 p.m., treating the crowd to sideshow performances, live music by the Moxy Cleveland Cabaret and fashion vendors BfloGALS and Vagabond Bowties selling artisan jewelry and accessories. Black Willow Winery will also be on site offering samples until the main attraction runway show at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets are $40 VIP, $30 general admission $30 and $20 for students and veterans. NACC members receive $10 off VIP and GA prices. Tickets can be purchased by calling 716-282-7530, ext. 0; online at http://thenacc.org/cirqueevent or on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/TheNACC.
NACC Development Director Kelly Buckley said, "The designers are excited to do this fundraiser to restore the grand theater. It's a one-of-a-kind event and, at only $30, it's a steal. There's even a voucher for a $20 gift from our sponsor, the Fashion Outlets of Niagara Falls, USA, on the back of each ticket.
"Last year we sold out, so people should get them before they're gone."
An after-party is scheduled at Wine on Third following this event.
The NACC is located at 1201 Pine Ave, Niagara Falls. Visit www.thenacc.org.
Galleries at the NACC are free and open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and noon to 4 p.m. weekends. Guided tours are available by calling 716-282-7530.
