Youngstown Fire Co.: Golf tournament set for Aug. 13

Sat, Jul 21st 2018 07:00 am
The Youngstown Volunteer Fire Co. invites residents to enjoy a day on the links in Youngstown at its annual golf tournament, Monday, Aug. 13, at the Niagara Frontier Golf Club.
YVFC Golf Committee Chairman Dave Truesdale said openings exist for men's, women's and mixed foursomes at all skill levels. "You need not be a fireman to play," he said.
The tourney gets underway at noon with lunch and follows with a 1 p.m. shotgun start in a scramble format. Cost to play is $125 per person and includes cart; a free beverage cart on the course; open bar following golf, with prizes awarded; and dinner plus awards.
The tourney will feature a hole in one contest, sponsored by Joe Cecconi's Chrysler Complex in Niagara Falls, with a $10,000 prize awarded. In addition, all participating golfers will receive a special gift package.
Truesdale welcomed all to experience the Niagara Frontier Golf Club, which offers what he calls "One of, (if not the) best and most challenging courses in the northeast."
He said the YVFC annual golf tourney, much like its other fundraisers, greatly assists the fire company with day-to-day operating expenses beyond town and village budget funding.
"Since our Field Days, we (now) have four fundraisers - the spring sports raffle, the lobster boil, the golf tourney and our fall sports raffle. Fundraising events like this are important and necessary. We appreciate your willingness to support our efforts," he said.
Truesdale said registration for foursomes remains open, as do sponsorship opportunities. For more information, call 716-745-7215.
