IMPACT/ReNU Niagara, a program of the Rev. Joseph L. Levesque, C.M. Institute for Civic Engagement at Niagara University, will once again offer grant training this fall.
The five-week course, called "Capacity College," will offer participants weekly training on the basic aspects of grants, including finding, applying for and managing funding opportunities. The training covers both public and private sector opportunities and will conclude with a funders' roundtable, providing participants the opportunity to learn more about grant opportunities and what funders are looking for.
Beginning Aug. 30, all courses will be held on Thursdays, from 6-8:30 p.m. in Bisgrove Hall, Room 351, on the Niagara University campus. The deadline to register is Aug. 16. A $20 fee covers all fall semester courses, books and handouts.
"This program truly reflects the proverb about teaching a man (or woman) to fish," said Tom Lowe, director of IMPACT/ReNU Niagara. "By addressing the topics that affect organizations on a daily basis, participants will be empowered with the knowledge and skills to effectively manage and grow their organizations."
To successfully and effectively build leadership in the community, the Levesque Institute has adopted leadership development as a focus area. The "Capacity College" program falls under this umbrella and was developed to build the capacity of residents and organizations that are working to make Niagara Falls and its surrounding areas better, safer communities. The program covers topics relevant to grassroots organizations. Grant training is held annually in the fall.
