Join the Town of Grand Island for the 43rd annual Dick Bessel Independence Day Run and the 49th annual Independence Day Parade! The kids run begins at 9 a.m. and the adult run starts at 9:10 a.m.
Grand Island Boulevard will close at 8:30 a.m. at the traffic circle to the intersection of the boulevard and Baseline Road. Baseline Road from Webb Road to the intersection of Baseline and Boulevard will close at 8:45 a.m.; Whitehaven Road between Baseline and G.I. Boulevard will also close at 8:45 a.m. Baseline will reopen at approximately 10:15 a.m. Grand Island Boulevard and Whitehaven Road will reopen at around noon.
Candy and handouts cannot be thrown from floats or vehicles. One must walk along the side of the parade route and hand items out. This is a safety issue.
