Lockport's Historic Palace Theatre is embarking on a four-year capital campaign, with a variety of key projects being planned and cost estimates established. These renovations will require a total investment of $2.1million, which organizers hope to realize by maximizing funding from New York state, regional foundations and generous businesses, along with donations of all sizes from friends and organizations in the community. Once completed, the venue stated a wide range of overdue projects will result in vastly improved experiences for Palace patrons and performers alike.
On Tuesday, the Historic Palace Theatre will launch an element of this capital campaign titled "Act II: Be Part Of Our Story." Thus crowdfunding campaign has a goal of raising $100,000 in 45 days. The Palace staffers said they are excited about this new way for organizations and individuals to raise money online for a not-for-profit, charity, social enterprise, community project or person in need. This campaign will be primarily social media and web-based.
The Historic Palace Theatre has been part of the Lockport Community since 1925 and has played a role in many people's stories since its conception.
"We hope that community members, and people around the world will see the value of this community hub and choose to be part of the Palace's story," the venue staff stated.
Built in 1925 by Charles Dickenson, the proscenium arch-style space is well known as an architectural marvel of the city. The theater is owned and operated by a non-profit organization, Historic Palace Inc.
