Out in the hamlet of Sanborn, there is a small shop that sells antique products. So small, in fact, you might miss it if you're not looking closely.
Eighteen years ago, Gary and Chris Townsend purchased LeVan's Grocery and Hardware and turned it into the Sanborn Old General Store that is known today.
For Chris having gone into it with little prior knowledge, owning the co-op has given her the opportunity to learn all about antiques.
"It was a learning experience, all these years. Now I know a lot more than I did 18 years ago," Chris said.
Over the years, Chris has learned more about what sells in an antique store, but that the needs and demands are always changing.
"By the time you think you have it down, they're looking for something else," she said.
The Sanborn Old General Store can be found at 5855 Buffalo St., three miles north of Niagara Falls Boulevard on Route 429. It is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday's.
For more information, the co-op can be contacted at http://sanbornoldgeneralstore.yolasite.com or 998-7882.
