Fundraising event to benefit families experiencing homelessness
Family Promise of WNY, a community organization providing temporary shelter and support to families experiencing homelessness within Western New York, will host "Cocktails for a Cause - To End Family Homelessness" on Saturday, June 2. The event will run from 3-6 p.m. at Buffalo Distilling Co., 860 Seneca St., Buffalo (in Larkinville).
Tickets for the fundraiser are $25 in advance or $30 at the door, with a free drink given to any tickets purchased before the event. Food is also included in the ticket price, while cocktail-themed basket raffles and a 50/50 will also take place. Tours of Family Promise of WNY's Family Resource Center, located just a mile away, will depart hourly for those wishing to learn more about how the organization works to end family homelessness each day.
"We are excited to partner with Buffalo Distilling Co. for this year's 'Cocktails for a Cause,' " said Lu Firestone, Family Promise of WNY executive director. "We are always looking for ways to connect within our neighborhood, and being so close will provide a great opportunity for attendees to tour our main site. We look forward to a great afternoon, having fun and raising funds to help us serve more families."
Sponsorship opportunities still exist for the event. For more information, contact Firestone at 716-771-3007 or [email protected].
Founded in 1996, Family Promise of WNY serves as one of over 200 affiliates of the national Family Promise organization. FPWNY partners with more than 500 volunteers annually through a network of host congregations that house families for one week at a time. Families visit the Family Resource Center each weekday to receive case management services, as they work toward finding stable housing.
In 2017, 18 families received services from Family Promise of WNY.
