Maureen Tyson, this year's Grand Island Relay For Life honorary survivor, has announced a fundraising event at the Knights of Columbus Mary Star of the Sea Council 4752. The theme of this event will be Cinco de Mayo and will be held from 6:30-10 p.m. Saturday, May 5, at the Knights of Columbus hall at 1841 Whitehaven Road.
Mark Tyson, co-chairperson for this fundraiser, said, "We are so honored and excited that Relay For Life has chosen Mo to be the featured survivor. Her faith and positive attitude never wavered during her battle. She never gave up hope. Dannie and I are so lucky to share her love everyday."
Tyson went on to explain that the event will feature: a basket raffle, a 50/50 raffle, a wagon of spirits raffle, a cash bar and euchre tournament. There will also be an a la carte taco bar for a minimal donation.
"The only way to fight this horrible disease is through events like this," noted co-chairperson Amanda Karnath. She continued by declaring, "We all know someone affected by cancer ... please consider helping Mo on her campaign to make cancer go away for good. Please consider joining us and donating a basket and/or a bottle of spirits."
Donations can be made by emailing [email protected] or [email protected].
