Lewiston Council on the Arts, Corey McGowan shine spotlight on restaurants, businesses
The Lewiston Council on the Arts and Corey McGowan Productions have teamed up again to produce the annual "A Taste of Lewiston." After a hiatus, the event returned last year bigger and grander than in past years.
Unlike traditional food festivals, the "Taste" is designed to showcase both local restaurants and local businesses. It's truly meant to be a sampling of all things Lewiston.
This year's "Taste" will take place from noon until 8 p.m. Saturday, May 26, along Center Street.
"There is no better way to experience the soul of a destination than through its food. You're invited to discover the delicious, creative and award-winning cuisine that makes Lewiston one of the most widely recognized destinations for foodies in Western New York," the LCA stated in a press release. "If your mouth is watering for some scrumptious food and you don't feel like cooking, then you're in luck!"
Also unique at the "Taste" is judging by popular vote.
"You get to be the judge and vote for your favorite dishes on your mobile device," the LCA said. People can use the "text to vote" system and text favorite restaurants to 474747.
Of course, that's not all. Visitors can check in at Lewiston's business establishments, which will showcase products and services; live music will ring out throughout the day; and patrons can have their photo taken with the King of the "Taste" for a souvenir from the fun-filled day.
Food and beverages can only be purchased with tickets that will be sold in three convenient locations at the festival.
Center Street will be closed off to vehicles from Fifth to Fourth streets, but Boy Scout Troop 855 will offer special $5 parking at Academy Park.
