Date set for 2018 Marty Violante Memorial Golf Classic

11th annual golf tournament to honor late Peter I. Certo on July 16
Niagara Catholic Jr./Sr. High School is holding its annual Marty Violante Memorial Golf Classic on Monday, July 16, at Niagara Frontier Country Club, 1058 Lake Road, Youngstown.
This event is open to the public and costs $190 per golfer. The fee includes 18 holes of golf, including a cart, plus lunch, refreshments and snacks on the course, one hour of open bar immediately after golfing, a steak dinner, and a gift for every golfer. There will also be raffles and a basket auction.
Registration and check-in will take place at the event at 11 a.m. There is a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start and a scramble format. This tournament will max out at 144 golfers, a so early registration is recommended.
This year's event will honor the late Peter I. Certo. A beloved Bishop Duffy graduate, Peter was on the committee from its inception until his passing. He and Marty were childhood friends who grew up next to each other.
Peter served as president of Certo Brothers Distributing Co., a family business founded in 1912. He was well-respected in the beer wholesale industry, receiving numerous awards and accolades. Peter also served as board member and chairman of the New York State Beer Wholesalers Association for 31 years.
The Marty Violante Classic is a premier charity golf event. Proceeds from this year's tournament will benefit Niagara Catholic students, scholarship funds and other school programs.
Peter will be honored during the tournament dinner, which will be held inside the club.
