Top HS, youth prospects competing for chance to train with NFL pros, coaches at HOF
The Pro Football Hall of Fame Academy is coming to Niagara Falls to evaluate top youth and high school football players Memorial Day weekend. The goal is to select top regional prospects to invite to the exclusive three-day Pro Football Hall of Fame Academy in mid-July.
Every year, the Pro Football Hall of Fame Academy trains the nation's top youth and high school athletes in Canton, Ohio (as well as NFL prospects) at the emerging $800 million state-of-the-art facilities known as the Pro Football Hall of Fame Village. The Academy features the NFL's top coaches, former players like Hall of Famer Rod Woodson, sports scientists and world-class performance trainers who provide 22 of the most intense, exciting and career-changing hours of football training in America. For most who attend the Pro Football Hall of Fame Academy, the journey begins at a combine like the one planned for Niagara Falls at Ruth Nicoletti Field, 4455 Porter Road, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 27.
Last year at the "Top 150 Football Combine" at Niagara Falls High School, several student athletes from Western New York were selected to travel to Canton for the three-day Academy, including Niagara Falls High School's David Morgan, Jr., Rodney Barnes Jr., Deonte Mathews, Kris Green Jr., Joseph Dixon II, Roderick Miller Jr., and Avon High School's Aaron Ghent. At the academy, they competed against some of most talented student athletes from across the country.
The Pro Football Hall of Fame Academy is owned by Legacy Global Sports and directed by Richard McGuinness, who created the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, which aired on NBC Sports, the Eastbay All-American Game and other top football properties over the past 15 years. McGuinness sold his interest in his previous company to re-imagine the nation's top showcase events for youth, high school and soon-to-be NFL athletes through showcase events like the Pro Football Hall of Fame Academy's combine series.
"As the world of football recruiting continues to get younger, the Pro Football Hall of Fame Academy will serve as the first phase of player identification in the nation," said McGuinness. Through our extensive testing and training programs along with NFL style evaluations, we are providing a unique opportunity to identify the nation's best youth athletes like no other organization in the world."
