Obituary: Margaret Grace Austin

Margaret Grace "Bunnie" Austin of the Town of Porter passed away Dec. 23 at Niagara Hospice in Lockport at the age of 90.
She was born in Niagara Falls, New York, on June 2, 1927, the oldest of 11 children to Rose (Lewis) and Edward Mulligan. She grew up on Third Avenue in Niagara Falls, Ontario, and attended school at St. Patrick's.
While living in Niagara Falls, Ontario, she worked as an executive secretary at Spirella in Niagara Falls, New York.
She married Harold Austin on June 23, 1956, and moved to the Town of Porter, where they raised six children. She attended church at St. Bernard's R.C. Church and volunteered at the Youngstown Free Library.
She was predeceased by her husband and son, Daniel, and is survived by five children: Mary Rose (Edward) Albrigo of Chantilly, Virginia; Rebecca of Traverse City, Michigan; Stephen and Lawrence of the Town of Porter, and Andrew of Red Hook, New York. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Erica, Stephen and Christopher Albrigo; and Will and Layne Simescu.
Also surviving are sisters Joan (Al) Collins and Maureen (Garth) Tustin and her brother Brian (Marcella) Mulligan. She was preceded in death by three sisters: Anne (Don) Nicholson, Eileen (William) Burns and Rosemary (Michael) Newe; and four brothers: Robert, John (Marian), Edward and James (Beverly) Mulligan.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was cared for by Niagara Hospice as well a caregiver, Sharon Kraft.
A Mass of Christian burial was held Dec. 28 at St. Bernard's R.C. Church, 218 Hinman St. in Youngstown with Monsignor David G. LiPuma officiating. Interment will follow at St. Peter's North Ridge Cemetery in Cambria.
