More than 4,300 employees nationwide receive President's Volunteer Service Award
April is National Volunteer Month and AT&T is celebrating two employees from Western New York for being honored with the President's Volunteer Service Award (PVSA). AT&T recognizes Michael Huber and Benjamin Roberts for being honored with the PVSA for giving their time to transform their community for the better.
Huber and Roberts were awarded Silver Awards for both volunteering more than 250 hours in 2017.
The PVSA recognizes individuals who demonstrate a commitment to volunteerism throughout the year. These AT&T employees in Western New York are among 4,386 AT&T employees nationwide to receive this honor. They logged a minimum of 100 service hours last year, with many volunteering more than 500 hours.
"These individuals help our communities through selfless acts every day. Whether it's mentoring students, cleaning up our parks or feeding the hungry, our employees are giving back," said Marissa Shorenstein, president, northeast region, AT&T. "In honor of National Volunteer Month, we congratulate these employees and hope their stories inspire others as much as they inspire us."
Community service has been an integral part of AT&T's culture for more than 100 years and takes many forms, including mentoring students, helping veterans, coaching youth, nonprofit involvement and community improvement initiatives. These moments of giving can add up to millions of service hours. Nationwide, AT&T employees volunteered more than 1.78 million hours of time in community outreach activities during 2017 - worth more than $42 million. (The current Independent Sector rate is $ $24.14 per hour.)
