Mon, Apr 2nd 2018 07:00 am
St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral invites the community of Western New York to a multi-faith service commemorating the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on what will be the 50th anniversary of his death, at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 4.
King was in Memphis to support sanitation division employees, most of whom were black, as they demanded decent wages and working conditions. King gave his famous, "I've Been to the Mountaintop" speech while in Memphis. It would prove to be his last.
The Rt. Rev. R. William Franklin, bishop of The Episcopal Diocese of Western New York, will lead the service that will include participants from Jewish, Muslim, and Christian faith traditions.
St. Paul's Cathedral is located at 139 Pearl St., Buffalo, just across from the Guaranty Building at the corner of Church and Pearl streets.
