Niagara County Genealogical Society hosting photo dating event

It's as true now as it was 150 years ago: the fashions people wear are indicators of the times. In fact, styles of clothing and accessories can be very useful in helping people add a decade or even a date to their family's photographs, which can be invaluable to genealogy research.
Join the Niagara County Genealogical Society as they host a free program, "Dating Photos thru Fashion" at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, at 215 Niagara St., Lockport as Marlene Miller and Cindy Waters walk attendees through the ins and outs of dating photos.
Miller and Waters, both graduates of SUNY College at Buffalo with degrees in fashion technology and history, focused their interest on historical clothing throughout their education.
Miller is a member of the North Tonawanda Genealogy Club and has been researching her own family tree for several years.
Waters serves on the board for Niagara County Genealogical Society as well as the New York State Council of Genealogical Organizations. She is a member of Daughters of the American Revolution Orleans Chapter and has been climbing her family tree for several years.
