Memorial Day parade, remembrance ceremony, luncheon announced

Lewiston's Memorial Day remembrance committee announced it will sponsor a Memorial Day Parade, remembrance ceremony and community luncheon on Memorial Day (Monday, May 28).
The parade will begin at 11 a.m. at Center and North Fourth streets and proceed to Academy Park for the Memorial Day ceremony. A free community luncheon will follow at the park. Food will be sponsored by the Brickyard family of companies.
The remembrance committee is a federal 501 (c)(3) charity whose purpose is to organize and produce this community celebration each year. Members are soliciting financial assistance and donations in any amount. Monies can be sent to Lewiston's Memorial Day Remembrance Committee, PO Box 1254, Lewiston, NY 14092.
Equally important is community involvement. The committee seeks local organizations, businesses and individuals to become partners and join the parade. Call or text Norm Machelor at 716-866-6880 for more information and an "application to parade." There is no fee to participate.
Due to the outstanding response last year, the committee will again sponsor a veterans float, which will be open to any veteran. The committee can accommodate veterans with disabilities and/or wheelchairs. Reservations are required.
